\ Boundary Commission Designated For East National Ave. Parish

The Right Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. :McNamara, Chancellor of the D10cese and pastor of Our Lady of Angels pa1ish, has been appointed by the Most Reverend Bishop to head a commission of clergy to meet and settle the boun- dary lines of the new parish to be built at 37th and National Avenue. This new spiritual center wiII accommodate Mexicans, Americans and Italians, with a sprinkling of Filipinos. To 1·epresent the new adminis- tration, not as yet appointed, t he Very Reverend Joseph V. Clarkin, pastor of Mary, Star of the Sea parish in La Jolla was elected Cu- rator. It is stimulating to record that the Diocese of San Diego, in pan• ticipatin;; in nine national cam- paigns for food and clothing dur- ing the past three years, has con- tributed an outstanding share of the thirty-five million dollars worth of food and clothing eofiect• ed by the Catholics of the United States. Other parishes, besides offerings in money, sent canned goods which mounted to 12,500 pounds. The cash returns from the parish- es made possible large volume pur- chases at point of embarkation- thus saving extra freight and an appreciable discount. The priests and people have manifested the charity of Christ in extending a helping hand to the starving men, women and children of the countries brought low by the horrors of war.
