A RESOLUTION HONORING TEN YEARS OF SERVICE TO SAN DIEGO BY THE MOST REV. BISHOP CHARLES F. BUDDY WHEREAS: The Diocese of San Diego has enjoyed the kindness and wisdom of its Bishop during the past ten years, and WHEREAS: The Most Reverend Charles F. Buddy has found it con- sistent with both the tenets of his faith and the in- clination of his courageous heart, to espouse the cause of the working man and woman and all underprivileged of his Diocese; and WH;EREAS: His timely aid and wise counsel have several times turned the tide in our ever continuing battle with the forces of organized greed; and WHEREAS: We the delegates of the craft unions affiliated with the San Diego Federated Trades and Labor Council wish to acknowledge our debt to him; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That we hereby signify to whom it may concern our sincerest appreciation for his sympathetic understanding of our problems and our admiration and gratitude for his fearless, forthright support in our mutual attempts to ease the burdens of laboring men and women; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That we earnestly hope the ensuing ten years will be marked by a continuation of the warm friendship and cooperation which has been our experi- ence in the ten years just ended. 11, 1947. This being our first regular meeting since prior to February 5, 1947, the tenth anniversary of the Installation of His Excellency Charles Francis Buddy as Bishop of San Diego. K. G. Scout Honored

Two Elevated to Order of Deacon Ceremony Attended By Vicar General Of Baja California On Monday, February 24, two young clerics were elevated to the order of Deacon by His Excellency, the Most Reverend Bishop of San Diego. The Rev. Mr. Edward Ko- koszka was ordi:.ined for the Dio- 1 cese of San Diego, and the Rev. Mr. Xavier Moreno Chico for Mexico. The Most Reverend Bishop was assisted during the ceremonies by the Very Rev. Francis Dillon and the Rev. Harry Mitchell. The Rev. B. Francis Ross and the Rev. Richard R. Daniels served as mas-, ters of ceremonies, and semi- narians from St. Francis semi-I nary assisted at the altar. Present in the sanctuary from the San Diego diocese were the 1' Rev. Leo L. Davis, the Rev. Humphrey Ruszel, CR, and the I Rev. Edward A. Johnson. Members of the Mexican clergy attending the ceremonies were Vicar General Gregorio Alfaro of the Vicariate Apostolic of Lower California, the Rev. Jose Oviedo, superior of the Seminario Misional de Ntra. Sra. de la Paz, in Ti- juana, and the Rev. Jose D. Marin, chaplain of Colegio La Paz and Colegio Motolinia, also in Tijuana. Five professors and 40 students from the Mexican seminary also were in the sanctuary. According to Vicar General Al- faro there are two parishes as well as two Catholic schools in Tijuana. The Colegio La Paz, with primary grades and a high school which affords a commercial couTSe, has 40 boarding students and 275 day students taught by 17 Sisters. The , Colegio Motolinia students, who ateend commercial and high school classes, are taught by five Sisters.

Bishop Congratulates Students

His E":cellency, the Most Rev. Charles F. Buddy, DD, Bishop of San Diego, congratulates members of the League of Mary and sodalists of Cathedral Girls' high school on their successful League of Decency campaign. Members of both organizations wave ple~ges of loyalty which were issued as protests against the ~ho~vmir ?f a recent objectionable movie, "Duel in the Sun." He referred to woman's place in the home, to her h1,gh destmy and to tile respect accorded to her by Christ and His Church.
