Bishop Buddy Scrapbook 1946-1948

180 saw the first company of the Sisters of the Holy Cross arriv- ing from France and settling at Bertrand, Michigan. Shortly after- wards they moved to St. Mary's, a mile across the road from Notre Dame, where their headquarters are today. At present, the Society boasts a community membership of fifteen hundred who conduct three four- year, fully accredited Liberal Arts colleges, eight hospitals, and approx- imately one hundred secondary and preparatory schools throughout the United States. Orphanages and in- dustrial schools are also cared for by these Sisters.
