Banning Orphanage

Proposed Dormitory for Girls -

Wrar~ All Natinns EEP humility hides the heroic charity of the Franciscan Fathers and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet who conduct an orphanage and school at Banning, California. Here the races meet -American, Mexican, Indian, Negro, Chinese, Japanese and other children find a Christian home where religion, learning and the concrete example of virtue blend happily to mould out of raw materials the better type of American citizen. Everyday for want of space it pains the heart of the brown-clad Padre Gerard to turn away many applicants. Surely you will join the forces of enlightened progress and build two dorm- itories at Banning - one for girls and one for boys. Our Saviour Jesus Christ pleads: "Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the Kingdom of Heaven is for such." St. Matthew XIX, 14.

COMMUNITY benefit and protection. Here day after day a staff of eminent physicians and surgeons, assisted by graduate nurses, give generously of their skill to relieve the suffering and distress of young and old. Expectant mothers, with limited means, find this clinic a bright spot of hope and kindly understanding. To provide more adequate facilities, a new building designed for the clinic is under construction. The merciful cannot turn a deaf ear to cries of pain. The Author of Life blesses those who give and those who receive.

To pity distress is but huma1i; to relieve it is Godlike.
