Thank you
Thank you to everyone who attended the 2013 National
Conference on the beautiful Gold Coast in June. I am very
pleased to announce the event was a successful one, with a
higher than expected number of registrations.
On behalf of SPA I would like to thank Conference Convenor
Alison Smith for her calm professionalism and dedication
leading up to and during the event. Alison was well
supported by Shareen Forsingdal, Nadine Lawson and Karen
Nicholls as members of the Conference Planning Committee.
Liz Ward as Chair of the Scientific Program Committee put
together a quality program. It is a huge task to organise an
event such as this and the Association acknowledges the
committee’s efforts in creating an atmosphere conducive
to much fruitful networking and learning in a stimulating
environment.
Pamela Richards (National Conference Manager) and her
assistant Rebecca Bluschke once again deserve mention for
their overall management and organisation of the event. It is
always good to see National Office staff attending: Joanna
Wood (Communications & Marketing Manager), Marni Bradley
(Manager, Member Services & Operations), Christine Lyons
(Senior Advisor, Professional Practice), Jemma Skeat (National
Advisor, Research & Policy) and Nicole Pantelleresco (Council
and Executive Assistant). Our CEO Gail Mulcair and President
Chris Stone once again had a busy Conference. I thank them
for their professionalism and good humour in their support of
the Conference.
The contributions of our student volunteers are also gratefully
acknowledged: Carla McEwan, Katie Huggard, Rachel Hull,
Emily Maeer, Megan Nevall, Stephanie Ng, Madeline Raatz
and Joy-Ann Xiang. Thank you for your helpful enthusiasm in
assisting with the running of the Conference.
The Association acknowledges the contribution of our
sponsors and exhibitors who continue to support our
National Conference and add another dimension to the event
by keeping us up-to-date with new products and services.
Finally I extend my sincere thanks to all delegates who
helped to make the 2013 National Conference a memorable
one. Your feedback is vital in assisting SPA to continue to
offer a quality annual event.
I hope to see you in 2014 at the National Conference being
held in Melbourne.
