First Lessons

It is never too soon to start training

your puppy—it is much easier to

establish the behavior you want rather

than trying to break bad habits.

tart by finding a reward that your puppy values;

this could be a food treat, or some pups are

motivated by playing with a toy. In order to train

a puppy successfully, he must have a reward that is

worth working for.

In the following exercises, a treat is used as a lure

and a reward, but a toy can be used in exactly the

same way.
