performance evaluation and manufacture of the novel enterically-coated dosage form. I have not worked hands-on
with W. somnifera during my time at the bench, however, the USP Ashwagandha monographs (Ashwagandha Root,
Powdered Ashwagandha Root and Powdered Ashwagandha Root Extract) are my current responsibility; I have been
collaborating with sponsors on monograph revisions, and reviewed significant volume of literature. An updated
HPTLC identification method [Pharmacopeial Forum 41(5)], a soon-to-be-published new HPLC limit test, as well as the
two concomitant Ashwagandha reference standard materials to be issued in the nearest future, have resulted from
my engagement with the sponsors.
I hope that the Chief Science Officer and the AOAC OMB will find this information relevant in evaluating my candidacy
for the Ashwagandha ERP.

Ms. Casey expertise is with dietary supplements (botanical products) and the analytical instrumentation to determine
the active compounds of interest. Ms. Casey worked at a startup company located at the University of Colorado
Health Sciences BioScience Complex and developed methods for the quantification of natural bioactive polyphenol
compounds in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) by LC-MS/MS. Ms. Casey’s continued these are of expertise and
work on the method development/validation for the Determination of Kratom in Herbal Products, and Identification
of 5-Hydroxytryptophan in Herbal Supplements.
