Types of HSCT
• Allogeneic: donor is a different person than the
recipient
– Require “matching” of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)
markers
– 25% chance of siblings being a “match”
– Recipients without a related donor may have donor
identified through National Marrow Donor Program
• Autologous: donor is the recipient
• Syngeneic: donor is identical twin of recipient
