Process of HSCT
• Induction and consolidation therapy for leukemia
– Until disease is in remission
• Conditioning: High dose chemotherapy with or
without radiation therapy
• Hematopoietic stem cell transplant
– Infusion of bone marrow, peripheral blood, or
umbilical HSCs into recipient
• Immunosuppressive therapy (if needed) to prevent
graft rejection
