Cutting and sawing
MOSCOW-based Vniimetmash, or
Russian scientific and research centre
of metallurgy engineering, is a major
manufacturer of tube cutting and sawing
tools in Eastern Europe.
Since 1955, its designers have
conceived and implemented hundreds
of different types of original, and in many
cases unique, pieces of steel melting
machines, cast and rolling units and
presses of different capacity.
Vniimetmash has developed several
types of high-speed rotary saw for
hot cutting of thick walled tubes and
pipes. The saw can slice square steel
tube with a side of 350mm within 0.8
seconds without a trace of cutting on
its butt. These saws have already been
working for a number of years at several
metallurgy plants in Russia and abroad.
According to the designers who made
the saws, the high speed of cutting is
provided by the original shape of the teeth
of the working blade, its hardness, and
the angle at which the disc hits the tube
billet. The very short time of the contact
of the rotating blade and tube allows the
tool to be used for slicing round billets
with diameters up to 500mm.
Several other types of saw and shears
have been developed at Vniimetmash,
including flying shears for cold cutting
of steel tubes and steel profiles in
continuous casting tube welding mills
and bending units. They can cut tubes
with hardness up to 500 MPa and
diameter of 110mm at a speed of 120m/
min. The accumulated discrepancy of
cuts on pieces 4m or 12m long is ±1mm.
Vniimetmash also makes shears for
cold rolling mills that cut tubes without
chips and shavings. They work on tubes
with diameters from 10 to 90mm and with
wall thickness of 0.8-5mm. The shears
are used on ferritic, austenitic heat
resistant steel and martensitic stainless
steel with additives of nickel and titanium
with yield point of 1,000 MPa.

CONDOROIL's Condorlube S700
has been designed for controlling of
electrowelded carbon steel tubes for
refrigeration. Special additives give
the product a good lubricating power
and antioxidising capacities.
The solution is kept clear, and
allows the performance of pneumatic
pressure tests at 50 atmospheres,
where it is possible to evaluate the
efficiency of the treatment on the spiral
tube, making eventual air leaks from
the tube easily visible to the machine
operator.
Condorlube S700 does not form any
foam on the tank surface, it has an
excellent bactericide power, does not
contain any mineral oils and is totally
hydrosoluble.
