This allows testing of a large range
of pipe sizes, including large diameters,
with minimal transducer adjustments, if
any, during size changeovers. Further,
because the transducers are under the
pipe, no tight fitting glands or shoes
are needed, resulting in lower water
circulation requirements, fewer wear
components and virtually no changes
required to the basic water tank on size
changeover.
This Spinning Tube transducer
system can also be used for testing tube
ends as well as for a retrofit or upgrade
of existing installations. MAC will also
be exhibiting the Xiris laser-based weld
inspection system.

inspection unit with automatic pitch control
for testing tube and pipe
Information will also be available on
test systems using a combination of
more than one type of test technology,
a requirement to meet many of today’s
stringent test standards such as API
and ASTM. Echomac
®
ultrasonic testers
combined with either MultiMac
®
eddy
current or MAC’s Rotoflux
®
flux leakage
technology can meet these standards.
At the same time both the ultrasonic
and flux leakage systems are capable of
testing to 5 per cent defect levels on the
OD and ID of tubular products. Because
MAC is one of the few companies that
can offer all of these technologies,
the systems can be fully integrated,
providing operators with a consistent
look and feel as well as enabling
combined defect reporting.
These testers can easily be combined
into complete, automated test systems
including triple pinch benches to
maintain accurate positioning, standard
and custom conveyors, markers,
sorters, demagnetisers, water circulation
systems for ultrasonic test applications,
and sophisticated controls, all designed
by MAC. Typical system applications
include testing welded and stainless
tube, automotive tube, OCTG (oil
country tubular goods), heat exchanger
and duplex tube, among others. MAC’s
knowledgeable field staff will provide
information in multiple languages on all
of MAC’s products.
Magnetic Analysis Corporation’s
manufacturing facilities are located
in Östersund, Sweden, and in
Elmsford, New York, and Boardman,
Ohio, USA. MAC’s engineers and
knowledgeable representatives serve
tube manufacturers worldwide.

Turkey
MEKOSAN designs and manufactures
fully automatic packaging machines and
automatic painting lines for tubes and
profiles. With more than 50 installations
in Turkey, the Middle East and Europe,
Mekosan is becoming a significant
player in this sector.
With a strong technical background
in automation and wire drawing,
Mekosan has been able to integrate
this knowledge and experience into its
tube and pipe products since 2005. The
company offers bundling machines for
tube diameters between 13 and 168mm,
as well as corresponding squares/
rectangles. The systems incorporate
transfer and handling of the products
from conveyor, through bundle forming,
strapping, weighing and draining, to
storage.
Mekosan recently appointed a new
sales agent, Superior Technologies
Europe Ltd (STE), located in the UK.
STE will cover selected countries in
Northern Europe where it has strong
strategic contacts.
At the forthcoming Tube show
Mekosan will be showing videos of its
packaging and painting systems.

Nirmal Overseas Ltd

India
NIRMAL was established in 1983 to
manufacture a wide range of HF/RF
vacuum tube welders with technical
collaboration with M/s Alientech Ltd,
UK. The company supplied around 750
HF/RF tube welders to the domestic
tube industry, and also exported. In
2009 Nirmal started to make solid-state
welders, and within two years supplied
15 units.
Through continuous R&D, soon after
manufacturing HF welders the company
started to supply complete turnkey
projects for the steel tube industry, taking
technical designs and engineering from
M/s Mannesman Demag, Germany.
The company started to manufacture
ERW and API tube mills up to 20"
diameter, which are high speed,
automatic, and continuous running, to
produce a wide range of steel tubes and
pipes.
The company also started to
manufacture HR/CR slitting lines, tube
hydro-testers, hot dip pipe galvanising
units, pipe finishing equipment and cut-
to-length lines.
Nirmal’s R&D team, consulting with
German engineers, has developed
a high-speed technology for cutting
pipes without any burr, with 100 per
cent length accuracy, and high-speed
tube mills with cold saw units. It has
developed a new process of designing,
engineering,
manufacturing
and
installing the equipment, which resulted
in the company being awarded as a top
exporter in this line by Shri Atal Bihari
Vajpayee.
Nirmal has undertaken more than 35
tube mill projects on a turnkey basis,
both in domestic and international
markets in countries including Sudan,
Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Jordan
and Oman.
