Doolin is a charming small seaside village

on the northwest coast of County Clare on

Irelands Wild Atlantic Way. Set against the

rugged Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by

the spectacular bare limestone landscape

of the Burren, it is situated 8km from the

famous cliffs of Moher.

The Park land was bought by the

Government for nature conservation and

public access. It contains examples of all the

major habitats within the Burren: Limestone

Pavement, Calcareous Grassland, Hazel

scrub, Ash/Hazel Woodland, Turloughs,

Lakes, Petrifying Springs, Cliffs and Fen.

The Cliffs of Moher in County Clare are

Ireland’s most visited natural attraction with

one million visitors every year.They stretch

for 8 kilometres along the Atlantic coast

in the west of Ireland.The cliffs reach the

height of 214 meters at their highest point

at

Knockardakin.At

the south end of the

Cliffs stands Hags Head,which is a natural

rocky promontory that resembles a seated

woman when it is viewed from the north.The

river channels that cut through the Cliffs are

over 300 million years old.They have slowly

through time been shaping the Cliffs the

entire time.
