Macy’s
Herald Square
2
Herald Square is formed by
the intersection of Broadway,
Sixth Avenue and 34th Street
in Manhattan. Macy’s Herald
Square has become a true New
York City icon. Built in 1902,
Macy’s Herald Square was
the first building to have the
modern-day escalator, and it has
continued to be a trendsetter.
Today,“America’s Largest
Department Store” covers an
entire city block with 11 levels
of the latest fashions for you
and your home. Macy’s offers
a full-service Visitor Center
on the Mezzanine Level, plus
restaurants throughout the
store and exciting events almost
every day.
High Line
(Chelsea District)
1
The High Line is a public park
built on a historic freight rail
line elevated above the streets
on Manhattan’s West Side.
This elevated park is one of
Manhattan’s most popular
destinations, and it’s easy to see
why. A rail track that went out
of use in 1980, the High Line
was resurrected as a 1.45-mile-
long green space in 2009,
running from the Meatpacking
District to the northern edge
of Chelsea. Today it’s an
urbanite’s playground planted
with wildflowers and grasses,
offering walkers a panorama of
the bustle below that makes the
park simultaneously removed
from the city and an inextricable
part of it. Check out some of
the public art, food and drink
offering around this airy strip of
West Side heaven.
