Hello ALC. Here in Charlotte, NC the ALC Logistics team continues to make big changes.
First, a brief overview of what the ALC Logistics division does and then on to the changes and
new initiatives we have been working on.
Since 1994, the ALC Logistics division has been focused on providing managed LTL
services to shippers across the U.S. Our team provides custom LTL software, freight
shipment auditing, tracking and tracing, LTL carrier rate negotiation, and carrier contract
management. We manage, audit and track over 80,000 LTL shipments a year for a select
group of twenty-four (24) existing customers that use our custom LTL software each day,
with an annual LTL spend of over $12 million.
Our team in Charlotte consists of Mary John-Hutchison, Stephanie Conklin, Ashley Riddle and
our two part-time students/interns, Katara Lucas and Anthony Lewis. Marnie Thomas
recently moved to the Project Management division, but continues to work on LTL in ALX and
with the ALC Logistics team on special projects. Matt Balsly operates out of Grapevine, TX
providing customer sales and support, and all carrier contract negotiations and claims.
In the past year, our teammigrated all of our customers to an upgraded LTL TMS platform.
We are currently working on providing EDI load tendering, EDI tracking and tracing and EDI
invoicing. In conjunction with the TMS team at Corporate, we are working to combine our LTL
software and truckload TMS on one software platform to be able to provide a complete
transportation solution to all shippers. A full EDI integration with LTL carriers will benefit all of
our customers and potential new customers seeking an integrated solution.
The TMS team already has several successful implementations underway.
Lastly, our group is working on the final stages of adding our full suite of LTL capabilities to
the ALX desktop. A dozen or so offices currently use our customer website for LTL quotes
and shipments for their customers. However, this is not an ideal solution as it still requires
all brokers to use one site for quoting and then duplicate the same load building process in ALX.
Once we have our LTL functionality added to ALX, it will be much easier for all offices to quote,
create and move LTL shipments in ALX. Brokers will have full visibility of all
