Physical Scientist

(This is a federal job)

Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:

Identified and measured primary standard clinical and nutritional analytes by applying isotope dilution GC/MS

and LC/MS methods. Performed precise measurements for value assignment in NIST Standard Reference

Materials, e.g., fatty acid composition of SRM 1946 Lake Superior Fish Tissue. Extensive development of

extraction techniques, compound class isolation, and derivative chemistry.

Developed analytical methods for the isolation and isotope-dilution mass spectrometric measurement of clinical

analytes in blood and urine for CCQM inter-laboratory comparison studies.

Derived Certified, Reference, or Information values for NIST SRM certificates as a statistical team member.

Presented laboratory research and wrote refereed journal articles, e.g., Fresenius' J. of Analytical Chemistry, NIST

Reports of Analysis, and at scientific meetings, including AOAC International, AOCS, and ASMS.
