appointed an Assistant Chief Clerk in the

Chancery Division of the High Court, Nor

thern Ireland.

MR. DANIEL SULLIVAN, Solicitor, died upon

the 17th January, 1930.

fp> Mr. Sullivan was admitted in Hilary Sit

tings, 1892, and practised under the style of

Michael Larkin & Co. at 51 Dame Street,

Dublin.

MR. JOSEPH TIERNEY, Solicitor, died upon

the 23rd January, 1930, at his residence, 46

Wellington Road, Dublin.

Mr. Tierney was admitted in Hilary Sit

tings, 1890, and practised at 2 St. Andrew

Street, Dublin.

MR. DANIEL DUNFORD, Solicitor, died upon

the 27th January, 1930, at his residence,

Catherine Street, Waterford.

Mr. Dunford was admitted in Trinity Sit

tings, 1883, and practised at Waterford, in

partnership with Mr. Peter O'Connor up to

1922, when he retired.

COURTS OF JUSTICE ACTS.

The Joint Committee of the Oireachtas

appointed to consider and

report what

amendments, if an}', are required in

the

Courts of Justice Act, 1924, and the Acts

amending the same, and any other statutes

affecting the civil jurisdiction of the Courts

of Saorstat Eireann, began its sittings in the

month of December.

The Committee consists of the following

members:—

Senators—S. L. Brown, K.C.; M. Comyn,

K.C.;

J. C. Dowdall, T. Farren, P. J.

Hooper, B. O'Rourke and R. Wilson.

Deputies—J. W. Beckett,

P. J. Little,

D, Morrissey

(Chairman), T. O'Higgins,

Vincent Rice, K.C., P. J. Ruttledge and

J. T. Wolfe.

The President of this Society (Mr. Seales),

Dr. Quirke and Mr. L. J. Ryan have given

evidence at the request of the Council.

The following members of the Solicitors'

profession have also given evidence:—Mr.

Delany, Mr. Gaffney, Mr. Horgan, Mr.

OhUadhaigh, Mr. J. J. Mooney, Mr. Dorgan,

Mr. Ebrill and Mr. Porter.

Evidence has also been given by the Chief

Justice, the President of the High Court,

Judge Davitt, Judge Devitt, Mr. Lynch, K.C.,

Mr. Overend, K.C., Mr. FitzGerald, K.C.,

CIRCUIT COURT RULES.

The Circuit Court Rules Committee have

for a considerable time past been engaged in

the preparation of Rules of the Circuit Court,

and this work having been completed, the

Rules as prepared by the Committee were

signed by the Committee on the 8th Feb

ruary. The next step towards bringing these

Rules into operation is that they should be

laid before each House of the Oireachtas,

and that they be approved by resolutions of

each such House.

The Calendar and Law Directory of the

Society for 1930 can be obtained at the

Society's Office, 45 Kildare Street, Dublin.

Price five shillings; by post, five shillings

and sixpence.

APRIL EXAMINATIONS, 1930.

The Final Examination will be held on the

2nd and 3rd days of April.

Notice of intention to attend the examina

tion should be lodged in

March.

The Preliminary Examination will be held

on the 8th and 9th days of April.
