MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

April 19th.

Thirty Members present.

Death of Mr. J. G. Reid.

A resolution was passed expressing the deep

regret of the Council at the death of their

colleague, Mr. John G. Reid, Vice-President,

and conveying to his relatives the sympathy

of the Council in their bereavement.

Resignation.

A letter was read from Mr. W. Dwyer,

resigning his membership of the Council

owing to his inability to attend the meetings.

The resignation was accepted with regret.

Courts of Justice Act.

A report was submitted from a joint con

ference of representatives of the Bar Council

and this Council, containing suggestions for

consideration of three amendments to the

Courts of Justice Act, 1924.

The Council

rejected one of the suggested amendments,

and expressed its agreement with the two

others.

OBITUARY.

MR. CHARLES G. JEFFERSON, Solicitor, died

upon the 4th April, 1928, at his residence,

Ardnamona, Belfast.

Mr. Jefferson served his apprenticeship

with Mr. Robert E. McLean, Belfast ;

was

admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1898, and

practised, in partnership with his brother,

Mr. Harold Jefferson, under the style of

C. & H. Jefferson, at Wellington Place,

Belfast.

He was for many years Honorary Secretary

of the Northern Law Society.

MR. WILLIAM B. -BARRINGTON, Solicitor,

died upon the 16th April, 1928, at Youghal.

Mr. Barrington was admitted in Hilary

Sittings, 1890, and practised at 58 South

Mall, Cork, under the style of O'Kearney and

Barrington.
