WOMENS CROSS
COUNTRY
USD's female harriers were two women short of being an outstanding
Cross Country team. Freshman Ellen Hughes was the top runner for
USD throughout the year. Ellen ran her best race in San Francisco in
the Women's Sectional Meet. Her fifth place finish qualified her for the
national meet in Des Moines, Iowa.Rounding outthe women's squad
were senior Frances Harris, senior Mary Kate Walker, Sophomore Cin
dy Zack, and freshman Rochelle Smith. Frances was the stabilizing
force for the team; her dedication helped the young squad. Both Cindy
and Rochelle have the potential to become great runners for USD.
