SHERIDAN PUNCH

Some say this was named after General Philip Sheridan,

famous Union cavalry officer during the Civil War. Some

advance the claim of Richard Brinsley Sheridan, the Irish

dramatist; and there are advocates of Pat Sheridan, long

head houseman of the Waldorf, for the honor of being god–

father to this punch. WeH, they were "Jl Irishmen, or of

Irish descent, and an Irish barman composed the drink:
