There is so much to see and do at APHA 2016. In this section of the final

program, we will highlight some of the key activities and provide you with

information needed to have a successful experience.

Download the Mobile App

The best places to find information about the meeting or search for

sessions is the mobile app. The APHA 2016 app is available for iPhone,

iPad, Windows and Android devices and as a mobile web platform for

those with various smart phones and tablets. Search for “APHA2016”

in your App Store.

Navigate and Network: APHA 2016

Sunday, Oct. 30 I 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. I CCC, 205–207

New attendees! Don’t miss this interactive, experiential session where you

will optimize your first Annual Meeting experience. APHA staff will share

tips to navigating the meeting and will highlight must-attend events. A

professional coach will also teach you how to network like a pro. This is

the perfect event for anyone looking to maximize time at the meeting and

learn how to make connections with the other 12,000+ attendees.

Tab 2—CE & Learning Institutes

To purchase access to our CE system or to register for one of the

Learning Institutes visit any onsite registration counter.

Tab 3—Scientific Sessions

This tab contains all the oral, roundtable and poster sessions taking place

this week. Events are listed chronologically. Sessions will be held at the

Colorado Convention Center (CCC) and Hyatt Regency Denver (HRD). All

poster Sessions will be held in the Public Health Expo in Halls A/F.

The Expo is an important part of the Annual Meeting. Review this tab for

exhibitor information and a list of activities occurring in the Expo.

APHA 2016 ANNUAL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

Opening General Session

Sunday, Oct. 30 I Noon – 1:30 p.m. I CCC, Bellco Theatre

The Annual Meeting will kick off with keynote speaker Cecile Richards,

president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the

Planned Parenthood Action Fund. Each year, Planned Parenthood

affiliate health centers ensure the right to health to millions of Americans.

Richards will share the challenges and successes of working for this

important organization. You don’t want to miss this event!

Public Health Expo

Grand Opening: Sunday, Oct. 30 I 1:30 p.m. I CCC, Exhibit Halls A/F

APHA’s Public Health Expo will take place Oct. 30-Nov. 1. The Expo

provides an excellent opportunity for attendees to meet and greet each

other while learning more about public health careers and visiting with

publishers, schools of public health, health related government agencies

and more. Detailed information about the Expo and all the activities can

be found in Tab 4.

Monday General Session

Monday, Oct. 31 I 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. I CCC, Bellco Theatre

Current and former directors of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and

Prevention will provide attendees with insight on what it’s like to guide the

extraordinary work of the CDC. Join us in hearing about the achievements

of this important agency through the eyes of the amazing leaders who

have been privileged to serve. The event will feature, Dr. Thomas Frieden,

Dr. Julie Gerberding, Dr. Jeffrey Koplan and Dr. David Satcher.

Closing General Session

After exploring ensuring the right to health as a strategy towards becoming

the healthiest nation, complete your week at APHA with this capstone

event. Join this dynamic discussion with leaders of the nation’s three most
