HALL PASSES/CONDUCT IN THE HALLS

Any student leaving the classroom during class time is expected to have a hall pass from

the classroom teacher.

The teacher must keep a log of the time of departure and time

of return.

The student is to go directly to his/her destination and then directly back to the

classroom. During class change, NO student will be permitted to exit the back door of the

CATE center to go to annexes, learning cottages or shop classes.

RESTROOMS

Restrooms are not places to loiter. Everyone is encouraged to do all that is possible to keep

those areas clean. Restrooms are to be used before classes, between classes, and after

school, unless there is an emergency.

Hall Passes and Restroom Passes will be given to the student upon their departure from the

classroom. All passes are color-coded and students are expected to be in the designated

areas.

Restroom Pass = Blue

Hall pass = Yellow

These passes are on color-coded lanyards.

CATE Center = Green

Cottages = Red

Upstairs hallway = Blue

Downstairs hallway = Yellow

COMMUNICATION DEVICES

Students may possess a beeper, cellular telephone, smart phone, tablet, Personal

Digital Assistant (PDA) or other communications device on school property, including

school buses, provided that the device must remain off and out of sight during

instructional time unless it is being used for instructional purposes at the direction

of the student’s teacher.

At no time may any device be used with an unfiltered connection to the Internet.

The division is not liable for devices brought to school or school activities.

If a student possesses or uses such a device other than as permitted in this policy, in

addition to other disciplinary sanctions which may be imposed, the device may be

confiscated from the student and returned only to the student’s parent.

FAILURE TO TURN IN A COMMUNICATION DEVICE TO A TEACHER, PRINCIPAL, OR

STAFF MEMBER WILL BE AN AUTOMATIC REFERRAL TO THE OFFICE. FURTHER

DISCIPLINARY ACTION MAY TAKE PLACE AT THAT TIME.

Students may use these devices until 8:23 a.m., during class changes, during their

respective lunch, and after 3:15 p.m.

Students may use the phone in the Main Office only in cases of an emergency and with

permission from the high school secretary, assistant principal or principal. Students

cannot make long distance calls on the school telephone except for official school business.
