New

features

Sikora’s Centerview 8000 is specifically

designed for production lines of all round,

single conductor wires, conductors

and cables with single or multi-wire

conductors and solid and foamed

insulations. Typical applications are

the manufacture of telephone wires,

RF cables, LAN or coaxial cables and

automotive cables.

The

system

measures

online

the

eccentricity, wall thickness, diameter

and ovality of cables with high single

value accuracy. It is suitable for product

diameters from 0.25 to 25mm.

The Centerview 8000 now features two

innovations. Integrated in the gauge head

is an optional 7” TFT monitor that displays

production data. Operation is clear and

menu-driven via touch screen.

A special edition of the Centerview

8010 is available, specifically for the

measurement

of

eccentricity,

wall

thickness, diameter and ovality of

micro-coax cables with a product

diameter from 0.05 to 10mm.

The measuring values are taken at four

points for diameter, and eight points for

eccentricity and ovality, and visualised

at the Ecocontrol 600, 1000 or 2000

processor systems.

The operator receives immediately clear

information about eccentricity values

that can be instantly used for control or

centring of the crosshead.

With the help of the presentation of the

scatter plot of the measuring values, the

distribution of short-term variations of

the eccentricity is graphically displayed,

either on the integrated monitor or on the

Ecocontrol display and control systems.

Every dot of the scatter plot represents a

single value of the eccentricity regarding

value and direction, and the distribution

of the scatter plot highlights the standard

deviation of the eccentricity.

Sikora

manufactures

and

supplies

measuring and control technology for

the wire and cable industry and the hose

and tube industry. The measuring and

control systems are exclusively made at

the company’s headquarters in Bremen,

Germany.

Ten years

in the wire

machine

market

Kieselstein

Group

from

Chemnitz,

Germany

is

celebrating

its

10

th

anniversary this year.

Founded in 2002 by owner Dr Stephan

Kieselstein, and starting business in his

private garage, Kieselstein entered the

market as a supplier of spare parts for

wire drawing machines of former brands

such as Herborn+Breitenbach and SKET

Drahtziehmaschinenwerk Grüna.

Kieselstein is the official successor

of Herborn+Breitenbach and is in

possession of nearly the complete

technical documentation of all wire

drawing machines ever produced under

this label.

Knowledge

also

comes

from

Dr

Kieselstein himself, who worked as head

of engineering at Herborn+Breitenbach.

Based

on

this

knowledge

and

experience, Kieselstein started building

up its own programme of wire drawing

equipment.

Less than one year after the foundation

of the company, the first wire drawing

machine was delivered under this new

brand name.

By listening carefully to its customers

and identifying their technological

questions and problems, Kieselstein

started focusing on the technology of

wire draw-peeling.

At its in-house R&D centre, with its own

wire draw-peeling plant, Kieselstein

constantly improves the technological

process of wire draw-peeling, works on

the optimisation of tool geometry and

tool material, and studies the influence

of various parameters on the results

reached.

Kieselstein’s portfolio includes wire

drawing equipment for a diameter range

of 0.1 to 60mm and nearly any wire

material.

The company says that wire producers

entering into new product ranges trust

in Kieselstein not only as a supplier of

wire production equipment, but also as

a consultant, helping them to identify

what type of machinery would best suit

the job required.

Joining his father’s business in 2004, wire

draw-peeling specialist Jens Kieselstein

has, as managing director, mainly taken

over responsibility for the technical

division of the company.
