The company operates state-of-the-art
manufacturing facilities in Germany
to support cable manufacturers and
end-users
primarily,
throughout
Europe, Russia, India and the Middle
East. The facilities located in Schkopau
and Leuna are Dow’s larger global
manufacturing platforms for wire and
cable compounds. They are part of an
integrated manufacturing complex in
central Germany. Ethylene produced at
Boehlen is transferred in a fully enclosed
underground pipeline to the polyethylene
resin production and vulcanising facilities
at Schkopau and Leuna.
As part of its commitment to developing
breakthrough solutions for global energy
needs, Dow E&T recently announced a
series of strategic investments, including
a modernisation of the Schkopau facility.
Most Effective Technology (MET) for
crosslinkable polyethylene power cable
insulation production is being executed at
Schkopau, supported by industry-leading
product quality control systems.
These proprietary measures are being
undertaken as part of the continuous
improvement efforts to help ensure
stringent materials cleanliness that is
especially crucial to the super clean
compounds expected for HV and EHV cable
applications. The continued investment in
equipment, people and operating discipline
at the Schkopau facility will enable Dow to
continue to deliver world-class capabilities
in the future.
