Mr. Henderson earned a bachelors degree in history from Centenary College of
Louisiana, and a masters degree in history from the University of Arizona. He then
spent three years in the Peace Corps, serving in Colombia, before earning his doctorate
in Latin American history in 1972 at Texas Christian University.

suburb of Chicago, with his wife Guadalupe, an elementary-
school principal. He has a degree in history from the University
of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, and was chairman of the
English department and the guidance department at
Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Illinois.
