The International Tube Association has
revealed the location of its next major
biennial conference as Istanbul, Turkey.
Titled Pipe & Tube Istanbul 09
‘Technology
for quality, productivity and profit’
, the
conference will take place from 2-3
November 2009. The conference will be
organised jointly with Ilhas Fuar, the team
behind the Boru exhibition.
The event will form part of the ITA’s
30
th
anniversary celebrations. Since its
foundation, the ITA has organised over
40 technical conferences, seminars
and symposiums. Istanbul will join a
distinguished list of recent venues like
Dnepropetrovsk,
Prague,
Veracruz,
Bilbao and Toronto for the most important
conference in the association’s two-year
timetable of technical events.
In preliminary discussions with leading
organisations in the Turkish industry, the
ITA has received an enthusiastic welcome
for the choice of Istanbul as conference
venue. Istanbul’s location, with a foot in
both Europe and Asia, and position as an
international travel hub, makes the city ideal
to attract potential delegates from Europe,
the CIS and Russia, the Arab States and
the Middle East, India and Africa.
Turkey’s tube and pipe sector is growing
fast alongside a number of related
developing industries. This should
result in a healthy local attendance,
notwithstanding the anticipated high level
of interest from other countries in the
region. It is expected that the conference
will be conducted in Turkish, Russian and
English.
The growth rate in the Turkish economy
was approaching 10 per cent last year and
recent tube industry data indicates that
