Welding equipment manufacturer, Kemppi

OY, and its parent Company Kemppi

Capital Oy, Lahti, Finland, is investing €15

million (£12 million) in new offices and

extended production facilities at its existing

facilities in Lahti, Finland. Construction of

the new facilities has been underway since

December 2007, with completion expected

by August 2008.

The new facility will provide an extra

8,500m

2

of floor space, and will house

the company’s existing electronics and

coil component production area upon

completion.

Mr Anssi Rantasalo, CEO, Kemppi OY

said:

“Kemppi’s welding business has

experienced steady growth over recent

years and we have seen the opening of new

subsidiaries in Russia, Poland and Chile as

well as a new sales office in China.”

“It is important for us to consolidate that

growth and this new investment will enable

us to increase the volume of our welding

equipment production to meet this demand

into the future. We needed to make this

investment along with increasing the use

of sub-contractors to meet our production

requirements.”

“We have already invested in a new SMD

production line and over the next two years,

the company will invest a further €5 million

(£4 million) to build research and product

development laboratories as well as further

production and improved logistics facilities in

Lahti. We are positive that continued market

demand for Kemppi’s welding technology

will enhance the company’s reputation and

justify our current investments.”

Kemppi OY also has a UK subsidiary –

Kemppi (UK) Ltd – based in Bedford.
