The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland wishes to

recruit a Senior Executive to take responsibility for the Institute's

Professional C o n d u ct F u n c t i o n. T he v a c a n cy occurs on the

retirement, at the end of 1992, of the Institute's Secretary. The

position entails the executive responsibility for the Institute's

investigation and disciplinary process, for the development of its

p r o f e s s i o n al c o n d u ct a nd ethical rules a nd for a d v i s i ng the

I n s t i t u te C o u n c i l , e x e c u t i ve a nd m e m b e rs on p r o f e s s i o n al

conduct, ethical and relevant legal matters.

The ideal candidate w o u ld be a lawyer with experience in

professional or accountancy matters, or a Chartered Accountant

with relevant legal or regulatory experience. In either case, a

m i n i m um of 10 to 12 years' professional experience is envisaged.

The position will be based at the Institute's Dublin offices and

will involve liaison with members and with other professional

bodies, in both Northern Ireland and in the Republic, and in Great

Britain. T he p o s i t i on w i ll report, at e x e c u t i ve level, to the

Institute's Director.

It is planned that the appointment will be on a fixed term

c o n t r a c t. T he salary p a c k a ge w i ll be attractive a nd w i ll be

commensurate with the senior level of the appointment.
