Cut-off value in the IELSG protocol
• Since the aim of the proposed protocol is
to spare radiotherapy to PET-
negative patients
, or, in other words, to de-escalated treatment in favorable-
prognosis patients, one should rely on a very sensitive (conservative) threshold
to interpret end-therapy scans, in order to avoid false negative results
Score 1: no uptake
Score 2: uptake ≤ mediastinum
Score 3: uptake > mediastinum but ≤ liver
Score 4: moderately uptake > liver
Score 5: markedly uptake > liver AND/or new
sites of disease
