Court Officers (Temporary Appointments)

Bill.

The President informed the Council that,

with the Secretary, he had had an interview

with the Minister of Home Affairs in refer

ence to this Bill, who had stated he would

consider the suggestions of the President,

and had requested a memorandum containing

the amendments to the Bill suggested by

the President, and that this memorandum

had since been sent to the Minister.

Obituary.

MR. WILLIAM H. NOLAN, Solicitor, died

upon the 2nd January, 1924.

Mr. Nolan was admitted in Hilary Sittings,

1891, and practised at Castlerea.

MR. HENRY BLACKBURNE, Solicitor, died

upon the 23rd January, 1924, at his residence

High Street, Carrickfergus.

Mr. Blackburne served his apprenticeship

with

the

late Sir Alexander McDowell,

Belfast, and practised at Cathedral Buildings,

Belfast.

Commissioners to Administer Oaths.

The Lord Chief Justice of Ireland, has

appointed the following to be Commissioners

to administer Oaths :—

Land Act, 1923.

The Council have settled a memorandum

containing a suggested Scale of remuneration

by commission for Solicitors for Vendors

under the above Act. Copies of the memor

andum can be obtained by members from.

the Secretary at 33 Molesworth Street.

Order XLVII, Rule 9, of the Rules of

the Irish Land Commission, dated the 5th

February, 1924, provides as follows :—

" To obtain a certificate from the Judicial

Commissioner for payment to the Vendor

out of the Costs Fund when the costs

of the proceedings have not been taxed,

a bill of the costs incurred drawn in

accordance with the schedule of fees

must be furnished and, if the Judicial

Commissioner so directs, shall be taxed."

Land Act, 1923. Rules.

Rules dated the 5th February, 1924, under

the Land Purchase Acts, have been made by

the Irish Land Commission, and can be

obtained from Messrs. Hodges and Figgis,

20 Nassau Street, Dublin.

Price, three

shillings, by post three shillings and two

pence.

Land Purchase Acts, 1903 and 1909.

The Judicial Commissioner has requested

the President

to call

the attention of

members of the profession to the delay in

many cases pending under the above Acts,

in which money or stock has gone to credit,

but in which

prima facie

titles have not yet

been lodged.
