2017-2021 FINANCIAL PLAN
The Integrated Seniors Sector
Conference – Raise the Profile Project is
a provincial initiative designed to
support the community-based seniors
programs and services sector in BC.
The goal of Raising the Profile initiative
is to raise the profile and capacity of
this sector to support the growing
needs of BC’s aging population. As a
result of the work that has been in pro-
cess with this initiative, the City of Sur-
rey in partnership with other key stake-
holders in the Seniors Sector, will be
hosting an
Integrated Seniors Sector
Conference
in the fall of 2017;
Surrey Firefighters Girls Empowerment
Program is a partnership program with
Surrey Safe Schools, City of Surrey and
The Surrey Firefighters Charitable
Association that runs at 4 high schools
in Surrey. The purpose of the Girls
Empowerment Program is to engage
these girls in positive prosocial activity,
provide positive adult role models and
connect them to resources and positive
networks in Surrey;
In the spring of 2017, the City will host
an Active Aging Resource Fair for
seniors and adults. This event will bring
together local community businesses,
organizations and resources that
support healthy active aging in Surrey.
Interactive resource booths will host
opportunities where generations can
connect and be active and engaged in
the community. Learn about new
technology, health innovations,
nutrition, travel, health, fitness and
overall wellness. The main stage will
host live music performances along
with presentations such as ‘Nutrition for
Heart Health’; and
In partnership with Surrey Schools Safe
Schools Department partnership and
the City’s Healthy Communities section,
this program’s objective is to positively
attach youth to school, their community
and the home by building a trusting and
positive relationship. Parents,
caregivers and/or guardians are
included in goal setting while assisting
the program’s objective in building a
positive lifestyle and self-worth for
youth.
The new Parks, Recreation and Culture Management System (“PRCMS”) will bring a
considerable amount of innovation possibilities. This new strategic system will
ensure the ongoing service delivery to the Community through the delivery of
Registered Programs, Passes, Drop-in Admissions and Rentals. Implementation,
training and “go-live” of the new PRCMS is set to occur in 2017. Following the 2017
implementation, a strategic roadmap of continual improvement initiatives will be
developed.
