GRID-Arendal is inaugurated and estab-
lished as a foundation under the Norwe-
gian Ministry of Environment, as part of
the United Nations Environment Pro-
gramme's Global Resource Information
Database (GRID).

tem with up-to-date environmental data
and information on diskette, developed
by GRID-Arendal in 1990, is produced
and distributed.

The first SoE-Norway, as a PC-based
information system, using the concept
of "GRID-INFO", is produced by GRID-
Arendal for UNCED in Rio de Jainero.
1992
The Soil Degradation Atlas is produced
jointly with GRID-Nairobi.

GRID-Arendal expands its Arctic net-
work, produces maps and develops da-
tabases for international Arctic initiatives
(AMAP, IDDEA - later ADD, CAFF, IN-
SROP).
