To achieve Safety Integrity we must achieve both Hardware Safety
Integrity
and
Systematic Safety Integrity

The term “Systematic Capability” is a useful addition to our safety
vocabulary in helping quantify systematic safety integrity.

Systematic Capability must be considered as part of device selection.
•
Take full advantage of available system ‘features’ to help control & avoid
systematic failures
•
Industry trend toward Digitalisation may help control and avoid
systematic failures and contribute to safety
