My work is inspired primarily by the landscape, art and

iconography of the Himalayas. It pays homage to the

phenomenon of street shrines, where associations of

faith, often contested, have the ability to transform the

meaning of ordinary objects.

In my work ancient texts, icons and imagery are re-

mixed and re-contextualized into new visual works

that are symbolic without being derivative, accessible

without being populist. The works question the per-

ceived boundaries between Spirit and Matter, nego-

tiating along the way a dialogue between the sacred

and the profane, the timeless and the contemporary,

the eastern and the western.
