ABOARD THE
SPIRIT OF ENDERBY
In remote Papua New Guinea, you’ll snorkel in some of the world’s best coral reefs
systems, walk through untouched rainforests, and gain cultural insights through
interactions with the locals. From the volcanic region of Rabaul, visit the Trobriand
Islands, called the “Islands of Love,” explore pristine Louisiade Archipelago and
unspoiled D’Entrecasteaux Islands, with countless species of marine and bird life.
Cap off the voyage in the picturesque town of Madang, a diver’s haven.
DAYS 1-3 KOKOPO / RABAUL, PAPUA
NEW GUINEA / JACQUINOT BAY
Explore the welcoming port town of Rabaul,
surrounded by six beautiful cone-shaped
volcanoes, then board the ship and set sail
for Jacquinot Bay.
DAYS 4-6 TROBRIAND ISLANDS
/ NARUTU ISLAND / LOUISIADE
ARCHIPELAGO / TAGULA ISLAND
In the lovely Trobriand Islands, watch
traditional dances that celebrate fishing
and the seasonal yam harvest. These
islanders are renowned for the exquisite
ebony wood-carvings, often decorated with
mother-of-pearl shell inlays. Snorkel amid a
kaleidoscope of coral reefs full of brilliantly-
hued fish, then head to the enchanting
Louisiade Archipelago for excellent land
and sea excursions, including fantastic bird
watching on Tagula Island, home of the
endemic Tagula honeyeater and white-
chinned myzomelo.
DAYS 7-10 D’ENTRECASTEAUX
ISLANDS / DOBU / TUFI FJORDS /
KAMIALI
Spend two full days exploring
this unique island group, from the highlands
of Mt. Lamanai to the protected harbor
at Sewa Bay. Highlights include the
geothermal area, with its hot springs and
bubbling mud pools surrounded by lush
vegetation,
and a visit to a
small village on
Dobu Island
with fewer
than 1,000
inhabitants.
Take in the
spectacular views of Tufi Fjords (the only
fjords in Papua New Guinea) as you
cruise by Zodiac. Walk in the surrounding
rainforest to look for the world’s largest
butterfly, the Queen Alexandra bird wing.
A special visit brings you to the prehistoric
rainforest of Kamiali, and, with luck, you
may spot the iconic Raggiana bird-of-
paradise.
DAYS 11-13 ARAWE ISLANDS / TUAM
ISLAND / UMBOI ISLAND / MADANG
Cruise past white
limestone cliffs up the
Pulie River. In riverside
villages, watch locals
perform their traditional
welcome dances and savor
warm hospitality before
joining a nature walk
and enjoying snorkeling
at Umboi Island. In
Madang, set on a
peninsula within one of the South
Pacific’s most beautiful harbors,
explore the amazing diversity
of wildlife, with optional diving
excursions, before returning to the
city to visit the vibrant markets.
Depart on Day 13.
