Continuous casting technology specialist
Rautomead Limited’s graphite furnace
technology is particularly suited for
production of high purity, high quality
oxygen-free copper wire rods and copper
alloy wire rods (copper silver, copper
magnesium, copper tin), 3,000-30,000 TPA.
This technology produces high quality
CuOF 8mm diameter wire rod. This
material benefits manufacturers of
enameled wire, LAN cables and fine wires.
The upward casting equipment may be
used to manufacture rods of all diameters
between 8mm and 30mm diameter and
is suitable feedstock for wire drawing and
continuous rotary extrusion processes.
End use applications include: superfine
wire, automotive wires, contact wire
and trolley wires for high speed trains,
data communication cables, CTC and
transformer strips as well as enameled
wires.
Rautomead managing director Brian
Frame will also be presenting a paper
at the technical symposium which runs
alongside the Interwire exhibition.
This paper will highlight Rautomead’s
recent R&D activities with respect to
developing a casting capability for new
high performance alloys, particularly
focused on automotive signal cabling,
lightweighting and improved alloy
tolerancing. This has resulted in newproduct
offerings from Rautomead specifically
designed for these applications.

Roblon is a supplier of high performance
fiber solutions for optical fiber cables (OFC)
and a manufacturer of cable machinery
for OFC. Offering a wide range of E-glass,
flexible strength members, binder yarn,
ripcords and water-swellable yarns,
Roblon can supply most of the products
used in OFC designs. However, by using
its special technologies and know-how, it
is also able to supply materials for many
different custom-made cable designs.
Recently, Roblon introduced a new family
of water-swellable yarns, including very
fine yarns for fully dry cable designs by
using new innovative chemistries. Roblon
Binder Yarn ULS is made of high grade
polyester and is used for high-speed
binding of SZ-stranded optical fibers and
tapes. With a shrinkage level less than 0.6
per cent, Roblon Binder Yarn ULS is suitable
