Fish.
In
order
to
keep
fresh
fish,
draw
the
fish
and
re-
move

gills
;
then
insert
a
piece
of
charcoal
in
their
mouths,
and
2 or
3
pieces
in
their
bellies.

they

be
conveyed
any
distance,
wrap
each
fish
separately
in
paper
and
place
them
in
a box.

thus
preserved
will
keep
fresh
several

mastic,

parts
camphor,
15
grains
sandarac,
and

elemi,

sufiicient
quantity

only

preserved
from
rust,
but
the
varnish
will
retain
its
transparency,

metallic
