Tailored tubes: Swiss quality in
lightweight construction
Jansen AG, founded in Switzerland
in 1923, develops, manufactures and
supplies welded and drawn precision
steel tubes and steel profile systems
as well as plastic products for the
construction sector and industrial
applications. Since 1978, the
company has also been the exclusive
Swiss distribution partner of Schüco
International KG, and sells the German
company’s aluminium and timber/metal
profile systems for the construction
industry.
The company has a broad product
portfolio of precision and profile steel
tubes for a wide range of applications.
In two steel tube works in Switzerland
and Germany, Jansen produces welded
precision steel tubes for the automotive
industry, among others, and develops
niche products together with technology
partners who may be suppliers or
customers. These products originate
from complex process technologies
and meet high material and process
requirements.
Through its development of innovative
material and process concepts, Jansen
is proactive in lightweight technology.
Thin-walled tubes at constant quality
reduce material consumption to save
weight.
In the sector of tailored tubes Jansen
claims to be one of the few suppliers
who can already produce in series.
Rolled or drawn tubes can be manu-
factured with constant outer diameters
and variable wall thicknesses. The
optimised use of material leads to a
specific reduction in weight. Tailored
tubes are used in stabilisers, drive
shafts and camshafts, structural parts,
axles and instrument panel holders.
Jansen is capable of meeting
stringent customer requirements
and guaranteeing final component
properties through specific know-how in
the individual process steps of welding,
annealing, drawing and adjusting.
Individual drawing processes permit the
production of complex profile shapes
as used in applications such as steering
systems or dampers.

Swedish manufacturer of
high performance pipes
System Alvenius pipes are made from
high-grade Swedish steel, and are
designed to be stronger, thinner and
lighter with low flow resistance. This
results in easier handling, low energy
consumption and a long service life.
The pipes are spiral-welded from
pressure-vessel class high-strength
steel, enabling them to be made
with a thin yet strong wall and, due
to the spiral welding, to remain
straight. Benefits include low weight
and a larger inner diameter for a given
outer diameter and working pressure.
