In-line measurement
Solutions for in-line measurement and
control of tubes, pipes and profiles will
be the focus of Zumbach’s exhibition
stand, including the Profilemaster
®
and Steelmaster in-line measurement
solutions for dimensions and shape.
Makers of seamless pipe, tube, profiles
and bars now have access to Zumbach
gauges, which have been enhanced to
offer more significant advantages.
New Profilemaster models SPS 200, 400
and 800 complete the line of hot and
cold in-process gauges for rounds up
to diameter 600mm (23.62") or profiles
of up to 550mm (21.65") edge lengths.
Profilemaster gauges are based on the
principle of light-section technology and
machine vision, and can handle any
shape or profile.
Relevant dimensions can be entered
into the program and are then monitored
during the production run at all times.
Typical applications are hot seamless
pipe and profiles of any kind, cold
rolled/welded tubes and pipes (ERW)
and inspection stations for tube, pipe,
profiles and bar.
Profilemaster systems are available
in multiple designs, depending on the
requirements of the customer and
product. The systems are best suited
to the continuous measurement and
monitoring of dimensions and the
complete cross-section of profiles made
of steel, metal, plastics or rubber.
The new series of Steelmaster hot and
cold gauges, based on high-speed
laser scanning, now offers up to 12,000
measurements per second, with new
calibrated single scan (CSS) technology.
This results in a highly accurate and fast
non-contact measurement of diameter,
ovality and width/height at production
speeds of 100m/s (19,685 ft/min).
Steelmaster gauges are available in
static (SMS models), oscillating (SMO
models) or rotating (SMR models)
configurations, for diameters of up to
500mm (20") or beyond, upon request.

Hot finished structural steel
Tata Steel is a steel producer with
manufacturing plants across Europe.
The company manufactures and
supplies a comprehensive range of
steel tube products for some of the
most demanding markets, including
construction, automotive, lifting and
excavating, and energy.
The company’s Celsius
®
420 range rep-
resents its advances in steel manu-
facturing and is the next-generation in
hot finished structural steel. Developed
in conjunction with customers in the
construction, off-highway and agricul-
tural equipment sectors, Celsius 420 is
suitable for use in applications where
structural performance at minimum
weight is required.
The Install
®
, Inline™ and Inflow™
family of hot-finished, multi-certified
conveyance products provides uniform,
stress-free tubes, with consistent
mechanical properties and additional
features and benefits for a range of
building and industrial pressure pipe
applications.
Specifically developed to meet customer
and market demands, the hot-finished
tubes can be considered an alternative
to comparable hot-finished seamless
products.
Building information modelling (BIM) is
becoming increasingly important in the
construction industry. As a result, Tata
Steel has developed a BIM database for
its tube products.
The user-friendly database allows
flexible access to all product data
from Tata Steel, improving the flow of
information throughout the life cycle of
a project.
For global oil and gas customers who
operate in challenging environments
around the world, Tata Steel manufac-
tures high frequency induction (HFI) and
submerged arc welded (SAW) line pipe,
where product reliability and integrity are
integral to delivering project success.
In the automotive sector the company’s
advanced steels engineered in tubular
form are supplied with specialist
technical support to enable the creation
of headrests, twist-beams, chassis
structures, instrument panel beams and
other essential automotive components.
