A n ASB sealed bearing
is fitted in the same
way as a conventional
type bearing.
However, there are certain
extra precautions that should
be considered during the
fitment:
With 1st generation bearings,
it is essential to fit the ASB seal
the correct way: the bearing
reference is always marked
on the side which has the ASB
encoded seal and must be fitted
to the inner side of the vehicle.
If unsure or to be certain, use
an ASB detector card.
The fitting of the bearing must
be done with the correct tools
for removal and replacement
so that the encoded seal is not
damaged.
Storage and transport must also
be sufficient, mishandling can
cause damage to the seal and
incorrect function of the sensor.
Being stored where there is
a case of high magnetism can
also damage the sensor.
The ASB Detector Card
allows quick and accurate
identification of the ASB
encoded seal and correct
positioning relative to the
sensor. The SNR ASB detector
card is shaped to enable use
on all types of ASB equipped
bearings.
