Solferino is Fuschsine, a dyestuff produced by oxidation of a mixture of
analines and toluidines. It is a brilliant magenta, and is so called from
Solferino, Italy, scene of a battle in i8S9, about the time of its discovery.
The name is generally applied to the color and not to the dyestuff.
