LASERLINC, a designer and manufacturer

of non-contact, laser and ultrasonic

measurement systems, has added

ultrasonics to its BenchLinc™ benchtop

inspection systems.

The fixture is based on LaserLinc’s

UltraGauge+ ultrasonic wall measurement

system. Manufacturers can use the system

to inspect cut-to-length metal tubing. The

operator is able to position the tube manually

at any location and at any angle. For operator

ease-of-use, measurements can be triggered

based on a push-button or a foot pedal.

To increase inspection speed and

improve R&R, options for automatic feed,

automatic sort, and automatic pick and place

are available. The fixture also incorporates

a laser micrometer for OD measurement.

The UltraGauge+ system consists of

a digital signal processor (DSP) and a

transducer fixture. The DSP connects via

Ethernet to a PC running Total Vu software,

LaserLinc’s proprietary measurement/data

processing package.

Current measurement capabilities range

from OD 1.3 to 19mm (0.05" to 0.75") and wall

thickness of 0.3 to 6.35mm (0.011" to 0.5"),

using transducer ranging from 10 to 30MHz

and depending on the material involved.
