and areas of British Columbia. These parks and regions have some of the biggest areas
of old-growth rainforest trees anywhere.
Temperate rainforests receive 100 inches (254 centimeters) of precipitation a year
or even more, and they have average temperatures between 39 and 54°F (4–12°C).
There is a lot of fog in these forests. Another characteristic is that the trees cover
nearly three-quarters of the sky when viewed from the forest floor. The

The Hoh Rainforest in Olympia National Park receives between 140 and 170 inches
(356 and 432 centimeters) of rain every year.
