THE largest wire, cable and tube

exhibition in Asia closed its doors in

September, following a record-breaking

four days which saw the exhibition

record more than 1,400 exhibitors at the

Shanghai New International Expo

Centre.

Covering 90,000m

2

, exhibitors from 34

countries were joined by more than

38,000 visitors from as far afield as

Argentina, Thailand, Vietnam, India,

Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong,

Macau, Taiwan and mainland China.

Argentina organised a buyer group to

visit wire and Tube China for the very

first time. During the exhibition, both

exhibitors and visitors were greatly

satisfied with the exhibition.

“The continual economic growth of

China with immense infrastructure and

energy projects has led to a boost in the

already huge market demand for all

kinds of wires, cable and pipes. In only

ten years, wire China and Tube China

have become Asia’s number one

networking platform for industry and

buyers,” said Werner Dornscheidt,

president and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf

GmbH.

“As a dynamic platform of technology

communication and information, as well

as a trade collaborative platform to

encourage the sharing of new

technology, products and thoughts, wire

China gathers in one place the global

technology development trend in the

industry and will definitely help with the

transformation upgrade and innovative

development of China’s wire industry,”

added Wei Dong, director-general of

Shanghai Electric Cable Research

Institute, vice president of China

Electrical

Equipment

Industry

Association (CEEIA) and chairman of

Electrical Cable & Wire Branch of CEEIA.

“After ten years’ efforts, we created a

world-known international tube and pipe

communication platform which we

believe will bring new benefits for

exhibitors and visitors both in China and

abroad and create new values

continuously, along with the transition of

Chinese economy,” said Yang Zunqing,

deputy secretary general of CISA,

chairman of MC-CCPIT and director of

MCIEC (International Exchange and

Cooperation Center of Metallurgical

Industry).

“With ten years’ thoughtful operations,

wire and Tube has grown to the

biggest professional show in Asia and

the second biggest in the world, all

thanks to its renowned quality, service,

scale and level. wire and Tube China

have been building a strong

connection between Chinese and

foreign companies,” added Axel

Bartkus, general manager of Messe

Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co Ltd.

The continual economic growth of

China with immense infrastructure and

energy projects has led to a boost in

market demand for all kinds of wires

and cable products which could be

seen in the scale of the exhibition.

A total of 982 exhibitors from 34

countries and regions attended wire

China 2014, and the exhibition area for

cable and wire products reached

57,500m

2

with an increase of 10.6 per

cent from the previous exhibition in

2012. The exhibitors from China and

overseas actively took part in wire

China and their increasing booth area

showcases the potential economic

development dynamic of China and

Asia.

Steve Rika, chairman of the

International Wire & Machinery

Association (IWMA), was confident to

increase the amount of members to

attend the next show. “There seems to

be more attendance and new

professional visitors. Lots of our

exhibitors showed their equipment on

site which attracted many visitors to

negotiate business in their booths

during the show. We will let our

members know the success of wire

China and believe more of them will

come to attend next time.”

“We’ve been coming here since the

beginning; the Chinese market is very

important to us. The advertising and

marketing of this event is very well

done, and many visitors come to see

us. As for us, we will also try to only

come to the exhibitions that are

important,” said Arnd Kulaczewski,

president of Maschinenfabrik Niehoff

GmbH & Co KG, who attended the

show with advanced equipment.

“The success of this exhibition far

exceeded our expectations,” said

Dominique Perroud, managing director

of SAMP Shanghai. “The visitor

numbers and influential media power of

wire China 2014 far exceeded our

imagination, which proves again its

strong international position. It provides

us with a best opportunity to show our

breakthrough comprehensive solutions

in cable and wires to all. What surprises

us is that many visitors are interested in

our products and place a large amount

of orders on site. In all, this exhibition

greatly exceeds our expectations.”

“We’ve been coming to the exhibition

since the beginning, and we manage to

attract more and more customers every

time we come here,” said Qingwei Liu,

general manager of Traxit International.
