Results

Characteristics of participants:

Twenty-one interviews were conducted.

This included nine GI and GY patients aged 25–

80 years.

Twelve MDM members were interviewed

Conclusions

. Patients had limited knowledge of MDMs or opportunities to input to MDM meeting

discussions.

. There is a need to ensure MDM processes are both efficient and patient-centred.

The operationalization of “No decision about me without me” in the context of MDM

models of care requires further consideration.

. Methods for ensuring that patients are actively integrated into the MDM processes are

required to ensure patients have an informed choice regarding engagement

, and to

ensure recommendations are based on the available patient-based & clinical evidence.
