Telecast Fiber
Systems launches
CommLink
Telecast Fiber Systems has
the launched its TR6442i
(CommLink), a fiber
optic transceiver system
designed to carry two
intercom channels over
a single strand of fiber
spanning distances
of more than 40km.
The CommLink is
considered ideal for
outside broadcasting (OB)
applications such as
television sports and
special events programming,
as well as for any type of
A/V installation, such as
theme park and theater
installations, corporate
events, and industrial
testing environments, that
require the transport of
intercom signals over long
distances.
“With the explosion
in high-definition TV
production, fiber has
become indispensable for
all types of productions
because of its light weight
and ability to transport
high-quality signals without
any degradation.
“Now, producers are look-
ing for fiber solutions that
support equipment, such
as cameras, microphones,
and intercom systems,
which are already in
place in the operation,”
said Steve DeFrancesco,
president and general
manager of Telecast Fiber
Systems.
“We designed the
CommLink to fill the
gap between the use of
short-range copper cables
and our high-end Adder
IITM system.”
The CommLink features
the industry’s most
advanced auto-nulling
hybrid technology,
making it easy to interface
to industry-standard
party line and matrix-style
intercom systems.
When in two-wire mode,
the CommLink will extend
two channels of a
Clear-ComR party-line
system or a RTSTM two-wire
intercom system. When no
intercom power supply is
available, the CommLink
transceiver can act as a
power supply for up to five
intercom belt packs.
abrasion. The insulation
is silicone, which performs
extremely well in high
temperature environments.
Designed for industrial
applications, the product
is rated for 600 volts and
carries a 200°C temperature
rating.
A feature of this cable is the
fluoropolymer layer beneath
the aramid fiber jacket.
In dynamic/flexing applications,
such as festoon systems,
this layer acts as a lubricant
between the silicone and
aramid layers, reducing
internal abrasion, increasing
cable performance, and
prolonging cable life. The
fluoropolymer layer alsoprovides
an additional moisture
barrier for added protection
in harsh environments.
TPC Wire & Cable Corp has
added aramid fiber jacketed
high temperature cable to its
portfolio of electrical cable,
connectors and accessories.
TPC supplies power and control
cable, connector assemblies
and accessories for a wide
range of applications in varied
markets.
The new 500-K single and
multi-conductor cables are
additions to the current high
temperature cable line known
as Thermo-Trex®. The addition
of the 500-K product line fills a
need for high temperature/high
performance cables for use in
abrasive environments.
The 500-K is jacketed with
an aramid fiber to provide
outstanding protection against
