MEETING OF THE COUNCIL

16th June. Twenty-seven members present.

Financial Agreement Loan.

The Secretary reported allotment to the

Society of £500 Financial Agreement Loan,

1938, being the amount applied for.

Seanad Election.

A letter was read from Mr. John J. Horgan

intimating that he did not desire to be

nominated as a candidate for election. The

Council nominated Mr. Thomas W. Delany,

(President) and Mr. Patrick F. O'Reilly,

(a Vice-President) as candidates on

the

Cultural and Educational Panel for election

to Seanad Eireann.

Local Registries of Title.

In response to an enquiry by the Local

Registration of Title Rules Committee the

Council

expressed

a unanimous opinion

that it would be wholly undesirable that the

Local Registries of Title should be abolished.

OBITUARY.

Mr. STEPHEN M- McAuLiFFE, Solicitor,

died on the 2nd June, 1938, at his residence,

9 Prospect Road, Glasnevin, Dublin.

Mr. McAuliffe served his apprenticeship

with the late Mr. W. H. Spence, Dublin, was

admitted

in Hilary Sittings,

1924,

and

practised formerly at 11 \Vestmoreland Street

Dublin, and latterly at 66 Upper O'Connell

Street, Dublin,

iinder the style of John

Clark and Co.

Mr. JOHN MACDONALD, Solicitor, died on

the 4th June, 1938, at Carrick-on-Shannon.

Mr. MacDonald served his apprentice

ship with Mr. Henry Murphy, Clones, was

admitted

in Trinity. Sittings,

1914,

and

practised at Carrick-on-Shannon.

Mr. MORGAN FOTTRELL, Solicitor, died on

the 7th June, 1938, at 2 Parnell Square,

Dublin.

Mr. Fottrell served his apprenticeship with

the late Sir George Fottrell, Dublin, was

admitted

in Easter Sittings,

1890,

and

practised under the style of Fottrell and

Mooney at 11 Anglesea Street, Dublin.

MISCELLANEOUS PROFESSIONAL

INFORMATION.

White and White of 13 Upper Ormond

Quay, Dublin, have acquired the business of

Henry B. Burton and Son, which was

carried on by Erroll Burton at 43 Dame

Street, Dublin. The business is now merged

in the business of White and White, which is

being carried on as heretofore at 13 Upper

Ormond Quay, Dublin. Mr. Erroll Burton

has retired from practice.

Peter J. Flynn, of 14 College Green, Dublin,

has acquired the business of the late James

Tanham of 13 Westmoreland Street, Dublin,

and having ceased to practise at 14 College

Green, is carrying on the business of James

Tanham at 13 Westmoreland Street under

the title of James Tanham and Co.
