Copies of Documents, High Court.

It was resolved that a letter be written

to

the Department of

Justice drawing

attention to the great inconvenience being

caused by reason of the delay in the issue

of copies of documents bespoken in offices

of the High Court and, in particular, those

bespoken in the Probate Department.

Adjournment.

The Council adjourned until 6th October.

OBITUARY.

MR. CHARLES J. REDDY, Solicitor, died

on the 13th July, 1938, at Dun Laoghaire.

Mr. Reddy served his apprenticeship with

the late Mr. Edward C. Jameson, Dublin,

was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1908,

and practised at 14 V/estland Row, Dublin

as a member of the firm of C. J. Reddy

and Son.

PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION.

Thomas Gerrard & Co. of 25 Westmoreland

Street,

have

acquired

the

business of

John Clark & Co. which was carried on by

S. M. McAuliffe (who died on 2nd June last)

at 66 Upper O'Connell Street, Dublin.

The business is now merged in that of Thomas

Gerrard & Co. which is being carried on as

heretofore

at

25 Westmoreland Street,

Dublin.

COURT

COSTS.

An interesting and important case came

recently (on 2nd June, 1938) before the

High Court on appeal from

the Dublin

Circuit Court on the question of solicitors'

costs in the Circuit Court, in which it was

decided that the fees prescribed in Parts I

to IX (inclusive) of the Third"Schedule to

the Circuit Court Rules are not exhaustive,

and that Solicitors are entitled

to have

resort to the fees prescribed in Part X of the

Schedule when

there

is additional work

done, properly falling within the scope of
