MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL.

6th October.

Twenty-two members present.

The President.

The Council expressed to the President of

the Society, Mr. Thomas W. Delany, its

congratulations on his election as a member

of the Senate

Estate Duties on Claims under Life Policies.

A letter in reply was read from the Revenue

Commissioners dealing with questions arising

owing to the conflicting claims as between

British and Eire Revenue authorities for

payment of estate duty on the proceeds of

policies of insurance on^the lives of deceased

persons domiciled in Eire held with com

panies whose head offices are

in Great

Britain. This letter appears in full in the

Annual Report of the Council.

Thirty-five members present.

Court of Examiners.

The report from the Court of Examiners

on the October Examinations was submitted

and adopted.

Land Registry.

A

letter in reply was read from

the

Registrar of Titles dealing with the matter

of delays in the furnishing of maps bespoken

in the Registry, and expressing the hope

that steps now being taken will remedy the

delays.

Annual Report.

The draft Annual Report of the Council

was adopted.

The ballot for election of Council for year

ending 26th November, 1939, wiU be held

on Monday, 21st November,

1938,

from

eleven

o'clock

to

one

o'clock,

in

the

Secretary's Office, Solicitors' Buildings, Four

Courts, Dublin. Voting papers should reach

the Secretary not later than one o'clock,

p.m., on Monday, 21st November.

GENERAL MEETING.

A half-yearly general meeting of

the

Society will be held at half-past two o'clock,

p.m., on Monday, 28th November, 1938, in

the Hall of the Society, Solicitors' Buildings,

Four Courts, Dublin.

OBITUARY.

MR. WELDON C. MOLONY, Solicitor, died

on the 19th August, 1938, at Hale Cottage,

Frimley, Surrey, England.

Mr. Molony was

admitted

in Hilary

Sittings, 1878, and practised as a member of

the firm of Molony and Owens up to 1926,

when he retired.

SIR JAMES McG. MECREDY, Knt., Solicitor,

died on the 26th August, 1938, at Guildford,

Surrey, England.
