Since our last half-yearly meeting I regret
to say we have lost many members of our
profession by death. Some of these gentlemen
were so closely connected with the work of
our Society that it is due to their memory
I should make a special reference to them.
Mr. Joseph MacDermott was a member of
the Council from 1912 to 1928, and filled the
office of President in the year 1922-1923.
Up to his death he was Chairman of the
Solicitors' Benevolent Association, in which
he took a deep interest. Mr. Earle Bland
was a member of the Council from 1892 to
1912 and a Vice-President
in
the year
1897-98. Mr. Philip O'SuUivan was one of
the most prominent of our country members.
He filled
the office of Vice-President
in
1933-34, and was a member of the Council
from 1929 up till his death. He was held in
the highest regard by all who knew him, and
his death
is
sincerely mourned by his
colleagues on
the Council. Mr. William
Murphy, of Cork, was one of the oldest
members of our profession, and was an
extra-ordinary member of the Council from
1924 to 1930. Mr. Sutton and Mr. William
