LIBRARY.

A rule has been made by the General

Council of the Bar prohibiting the borrowing

from the Bar Library by its members of

books for their use in the Circuit Courts.

In consequence of this rule country members

of the Incorporated Law Society have been

giving written authority to counsel to borrow

in the name of the member from the Society's

Library such books as counsel may require

for use in Court in a case in which he may

be about to appear for the member in a

Circuit Court.

This practice has caused

much inconvenience in the management of

the

Society's

Library,

particularly

.

in

reference to volumes of Reports. The Bar

Library contains as many as three and four

sets of various Law Reports. The Society's

Library contains one set of each of its

Reports.

'

The Council of the Bar was requested'by

the Council of the Society to reconsider its'

rule but refused to do so, and in consequence

the Council of

the Society has found it

necessary to make the following regulation :

The Council directs that no book be lent out

of the Society's Library for the use of Counsel.

The Council desires that members of the

Society, both City and Country, may be

assured that this regulation will not interfere

with the borrowing of books by members of

the Society for their personal use.
